What to Do If You Become Orange With Sunless Tanning Products

The last thing you want to have happen when you use a sunless tanning product is for it to turn you orange. The better products usually won't do that, but this is small consolation if you have already used a cheaper self tanning lotion and ended up orange. Sunless tan lotions can be tricky to apply, and sometimes it's hard to tell exactly how much you are getting on your skin. By the time the orange shows up a few hours later, it's nearly too late to scrub, because it's already soaked into your outer skin layer. There are several home remedies you can try, to remove sunless tan product from your skin, without harming the skin. One simple way is to use baby oil and warm water mixed. Fill your bathtub half-way full with hot water, hot enough to steam, but not hot enough to burn your skin. Pour in a half bottle of organic, natural baby oil, and mix them up. Sit with any part of your body in the water that you want to change. If you need to get rid of orange from sunless tanning products on your belly, chest or face, you can use the water and oil mixed into the sink, or a large bucket. Use a wash cloth full of the mixture on your skin, for about twenty minutes. Follow this procedure three more times. This mixture will help in lightening up the orange self tanning product, in addition to fixing blotches or streaks. It will also leave your skin feeling soft.Another home remedy that will help get rid of orange from your sunless tan product is to use lime and lemon wedges. Squeeze the lemon wedge on the body area you are treating, and only on that area. Don't let the juice run onto body parts that don't need lightened. Rub the lemon area for about four minutes. Rinse this off with cool water, and then repeat the process with your lime wedge. After you use up four wedges, rinse with warm water to remove residue, and then use a cool rinse.Another method of getting rid of orange streaks or blotches from sunless tanning products is to exfoliate your skin thoroughly. The outer layer of skin is the one that is colored, so you want to help that layer to be removed, to fully get rid of the color you don't want. You can use a body scrub or a bath sponge, while you take your daily shower. Don't over-scrub, since that may irritate your skin, and red-orange doesn't look any better than orange. In the evening, you can soak in warm water and use a wash cloth that has been soaked in milk. The lactic acid in milk helps to exfoliate your skin, and it's gentle, too. Shave your legs each day to move the exfoliation process along.St Tropez makes a self tan remover that can be used within four hours of applying a self tanning product. Moisturize your skin so that your sunless tan product will wear off in an even fashion. Small spots can be helped along by using whitening toothpaste, too.
